The Better Health Channel, an online resource that provides health information by the Victorian government (Australia), states: "According to Japanese research, green tea reduces the levels of LDL, or 'bad' blood cholesterol, and may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. European studies have found that regular tea drinking protects against heart disease. One study found that the risk was 36 percent lower for tea drinkers."3 Detoxification According the Midwest Technology Journal (www.pcjournal.com): "when you look at the facts -- the increasing numbers of cancers, immune system disorders, neurological problems, chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple chemical sensitivities, allergies and hormonal disturbances that are facing the nation -- it is hard NOT to take notice. Consider these statistics Some 77,000 chemicals are produced in North America. Over 3,000 chemicals are added to our food supply. More than 10,000 chemical solvents, emulsifiers and preservatives are used in food processing. 1,000 new chemicals are introduced each year. Where do all of these chemicals end up? They are absorbed into our groundwater, rivers, lakes and oceans, spewed into our air, and added, quite intentionally, to our food supply."4

Detox foot pads (manufactured in Japan) are applied to the same reflex points that are used in foot reflexology. Wear them while you sleep and they warm the feet with a combination of herbs and infrared therapy. I tried a sample of Kenrico's "gold edition" pads containing Tourmaline, a mineral that emits far infrared heat, negative ions and is known for its ability to exert a cleansing and liberating energy upon the entire nervous system. Just before bed, I secured one of these pads to the bottom of each foot. The next morning, I was not surprised to find that the pads had turned a deep brown color. I wasn't sure what the brown stuff was, I was just glad that it was "out". I also felt more rested and remembered my dreams more vividly than usual. I was impressed. Could these detox pads also be used to lower my cholesterol? There are ten different pads to choose from with different natural ingredients and one of the newer pads contains green tea.

Research suggests that drinking green tea lowers total cholesterol levels, as well as improving the ratio of good (HDL) cholesterol to bad (LDL) cholesterol. Kenrico's "special edition" green tea pads work 24 hours a day and enable us to absorb the green tea without having to drink it. Do they work? In a controlled study conducted at the Research Testing Laboratories in New York, these green tea pads were tested for their effectiveness in reducing LDL-cholesterol levels and triglycerides. Men and women (between the ages of 18 and 65 years old) were tested with Body Mass Indexes (BMI) that ranged between 25.0 and 39.9. Before the test, each person fasted for 10 to 12 hours and a blood sample was drawn for CBC and chemistry profiling. Body weight was recorded and each person's height and BMI was calculated. Brain Wave Research
Test article: Kenrico Sap S(Tourmaline)
Test device: EEG

An electroencephalography (EEG) (elek-tro-in-SEF-all-oh-gram), is a neurological test that measures the electrical signals your brain sends to the rest of your body, and then records them onto a graph. An EEG is used to evaluate the cause of seizures, diagnose comas, and evaluate strokes and sleep disorders. It can also be used to determine the presence and location of brain injuries, abscesses, tumors, intracranial hemorrhages, and to confirm brain death.

Brainwaves, like all waves, are measured in two ways. The first is frequency, or speed of electrical pulses. Frequency is measured in cycles per second (cps or HZ), ranging from .5cps to 38cps. The second measurement is amplitude, or how strong the brainwave is. There are four categories of brainwaves: Beta, Alpha, Theta, and Delta. When we are accessing our multidimensional self we are able to use a combination of all four brainwaves.

ALPHA WAVES

Alpha Waves have a bridging capacity between our conscious and unconscious/superconscious minds, as well as a vivid imagery, and relaxed, detached awareness. When we completely relax, we shift into Alpha waves, which are between 8 and 12 cycles per second (cps). Alpha waves are slower in frequency than Beta, but have greater amplitude. A person who takes time out to reflect, meditate, or take a break from activity is often in an alpha state. When we concentrate intently on one thought, emotion, or activity we have less stimuli to process and our brains can go into Alpha waves. With Alpha wave consciousness we are not bound by time and space as we are in Beta Waves. This frees our left-brain's logical, sequential organization and allows us to also access our more creative and intuitive right brain.

Alpha brainwaves are conducive to creative problem solving, accelerated learning, mood elevation and stress reduction. Intuitive insights, creative juices, inspiration, motivation, and daydreams characterize Alpha waves. These waves are relaxed yet alert. Therefore, they provide a bridge between our conscious and unconscious and/or super conscious minds.

BETA WAVES

Beta waves represent our ability to consciously process our thoughts. We spend most of our waking moments in Beta waves, in which our brainwaves pulsate at between 13 and 39 cycles per second. In this state, our attention is focused on the day-to-day outside world. We are largely focused on the logical, sequential activity of the left hemisphere because the brain is busy processing myriad information that has arrived through our five senses.

Beta brainwaves are conducive to stimulating thinking and action. Most of our current education is beta geared, and is characterized by logical, analytical, intellectual thinking and written or verbal communication. Beta waves are the predominant brainwaves in our everyday life.

THETA WAVES

Theta waves are our unconscious creativity, inspiration and spiritual connection. Theta waves, 4 to 7 cps, are associated with the deepest experiences of meditation and creativity. Theta waves are even slower than Beta or Alpha and are typically of even greater amplitude. When we narrow our focus primarily to our inner self, we can go into Theta waves. In this state it is difficult to maintain conscious contact between our physical body and the outside world. To maintain this state of consciousness we must keep our bodies still because we are so focused on our inside world that it would not be safe to move around in the physical world

Far Infrared Research
Test article: Kenrico Sap Sheet
Test device: TVS 700

Far infrared is part of the spectrum of light emanating from the sun. Far infrared is not visible to the eye, but you feel it as heat penetrating into your skin. You may be familiar with the infrared heat lamps sometimes used in bathrooms. Far infrared produces heat in a similar fashion, but is much more efficient because it penetrates even deeper into the skin.

Far infrared light, and its therapeutic properties, have been studied in Japan for over twenty years and are now beginning to become very popular in the rest of the world. Far infrared is very helpful for healing the skin, blood circulation, and skin cell revitalizing. Far infrared originated from detox pads is 100% natural & 100% safe, made from natural ingredients, emitted without the help of electric devices.

Negative Ion Research
Test article: Kenrico Sap Sheet TRMX
Test device: KST-900

Negative ions are odorless, tasteless, and invisible molecules that we inhale in abundance in certain environments; think of mountains, waterfalls, and beaches. Once they reach to our bloodstream, negative ions are believed to produce biochemical reactions that decrease levels of serotonin helping to relieve stress (calming), alleviate depression, boost our daytime energy and increase defence against infection.

Ions are molecules that have gained or lost an electrical charge. They are created in nature as air molecules break apart due to the sunlight, radiation, and moving air and water. You may have experienced the power of negative ions when you last set foot on the beach or walked beneath a waterfall. The air circulating in the mountains and the beach is said to contain tens of thousands of negative ions -- Much more than the average home or office building, which may contain dozens or hundreds, and in fact many register a flat zero.

Previous negative ion measurements had been done in certain places in Japan.
In regular room with windows: approximately 150 ion/cm3.
Near river: approximately 600 ion/cm3.
Near big fountain: approximately 1000 ion/cm3.
Near waterfall (half the size of Niagara): approximately 3000 ion/cm3.
Near big Tourmaline stone: approximately 500 - 2000 ion/cm3.

Measurement was performed under 60 seconds in a closed room with a temperature of 25 degree Celcius, and humidity of 35%.

Heavy Metals Research
Test article: Kenrico Sap Sheet TRMX

"Heavy metals" are chemical elements with a specific gravity that is at least 5 times the specific gravity of water. In small quantities, certain heavy metals are nutritionally essential for a healthy life. These elements, or some form of them, are commonly found naturally in foodstuffs, in fruits and vegetables, and in commercially available multivitamin products. Heavy metals are also common in industrial applications such as in the manufacture of pesticides, batteries, alloys, electroplated metal parts, textile dyes, steel, and so forth. Many of these products are in our homes and actually add to our quality of life when properly used.

Heavy metals become toxic when they are not metabolized by the body and accumulate in the soft tissues. Heavy metals may enter the human body through food, water, air, or absorption through the skin when they come in contact with humans in agriculture and in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, industrial, or residential settings. Industrial exposure accounts for a common route of exposure for adults. Ingestion is the most common route of exposure in children. Children may develop toxic levels from the normal hand-to-mouth activity of small children who come in contact with contaminated soil or by actually eating objects that are not food (dirt or paint chips). Less common routes of exposure are during a radiological procedure, from inappropriate dosing or monitoring during intravenous (parenteral) nutrition, from a broken thermometer, or from a suicide or homicide attempt.

ARSENIC

Arsenic is the most common cause of acute heavy metal poisoning in adults. Arsenic is released into the environment by the smelting process of copper, zinc, and lead, as well as by the manufacturing of chemicals and glasses. Arsine gas is a common byproduct produced by the manufacturing of pesticides that contain arsenic. Arsenic may be also be found in water supplies worldwide, leading to exposure of shellfish, cod, and haddock. Other sources are paints, rat poisoning, fungicides, and wood preservatives. Target organs are the blood, kidneys, and central nervous, digestive, and skin systems.

LEAD

Lead accounts for most of the cases of pediatric heavy metal poisoning. It is a very soft metal and was used in pipes, drains, and soldering materials for many years. Millions of homes built before 1940 still contain lead (e.g., in painted surfaces), leading to chronic exposure from weathering, flaking, chalking, and dust. Every year, industry produces about 2.5 million tons of lead throughout the world. Most of this lead is used for batteries. The remainder is used for cable coverings, plumbing, ammunition, and fuel additives. Other uses are as paint pigments and in PVC plastics, x-ray shielding, crystal glass production, pencils, and pesticides. Target organs are the bones, brain, blood, kidneys, and thyroid gland.

MERCURY

Mercury is generated naturally in the environment from the degassing of the earth's crust, from volcanic emissions. It exists in three forms: elemental mercury and organic and inorganic mercury. Mining operations, chloralkali plants, and paper industries are significant producers of mercury. Atmospheric mercury is dispersed across the globe by winds and returns to the earth in rainfall, accumulating in aquatic food chains and fish in lakes. Mercury compounds were added to paint as a fungicide until 1990. These compounds are now banned; however, old paint supplies and surfaces painted with these old supplies still exist. Mercury continues to be used in thermometers, thermostats, and dental amalgam. Medicines, such as mercurochrome and merthiolate, are still available. Algaecides and childhood vaccines are also potential sources. Inhalation is the most frequent cause of exposure to mercury. The organic form is readily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract (90-100%); lesser but still significant amounts of inorganic mercury are absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract (7-15%). Target organs are the brain and kidneys.

CADMIUM

Cadmium is a byproduct of the mining and smelting of lead and zinc. It is used in nickel-cadmium batteries, PVC plastics, and paint pigments. It can be found in soils because insecticides, fungicides, sludge, and commercial fertilizers that use cadmium are used in agriculture. Cadmium may be found in reservoirs containing shellfish. Cigarettes also contain cadmium. Lesser-known sources of exposure are dental alloys, electroplating, motor oil, and exhaust. Inhalation accounts for 15-50% of absorption through the respiratory system; 2-7% of ingested cadmium is absorbed in the gastrointestinal system. Target organs are the liver, placenta, kidneys, lungs, brain, and bones.

BERYLLIUM

Beryllium is a hard, grayish metal naturally found in mineral rocks, coal, soil, and volcanic dust. Beryllium compounds are commercially mined, and the beryllium is purified for use in nuclear weapons and reactors, aircraft and space vehicle structures, instruments, x-ray machines, and mirrors. Beryllium ores are used to make speciality ceramics for electrical and high-technology applications. Beryllium alloys are used in automobiles, computers, sports equipment (golf clubs and bicycle frames), and dental bridges.

ALUMINUM

Although aluminum is not a heavy metal (specific gravity of 2.55-2.80), it makes up about 8% of the surface of the earth and is the third most abundant element. It is readily available for human ingestion through the use of food additives, antacids, buffered aspirin, astringents, nasal sprays, and antiperspirants; from drinking water; from automobile exhaust and tobacco smoke; and from using aluminum foil, aluminum cookware, cans, ceramics, and fireworks.

HAIR MINERAL ANALYSIS
Hair can accumulate more then thirty minerals, trace elements and toxins over a three month growth period. Proponents of hair analysis claim that even the smallest amounts can be detected. Based on the analysis, nutritional and therapeutic measures can be recommended then to correct the imbalances and detoxify the body.

The structure of the hair is a shaft that is made up of lifeless protein material arranged around a central core. This outer protein layer is then sheathed in delicate cuticle cells, which are arranged like shingles or tiles. The cuticle is in turn covered by a layer of protein substances and fatty substances that will protect the hair. Hair grows about half an inch a month and some one-hundred new hairs are added daily. Hair does grow for three to six years before falling out. Using rubberbands, and strong chemicals in hair will cause hair to fall out faster though, so it is recommend to avoid using rubberbands or chemicals in the hair.

The hair root is anchored with each shaft of hair to the scalp. The root is nourished by a network of delicate blood vessels, which deliver vitamins, minerals and trace elements to the outer layers of the hair shaft. These same vessels are also deposited in the hair and any toxins or drugs present then show up during hair analysis. Hair analysis is the process to assess the body's mineral and toxin levels over a period of several months and is the most widely recognized procedure for parents used to test teenagers for drugs in their system.

LDL-Cholesterol and Triglycerides
Test article: Kenrico Sap Sheet

Males and females, between 18 and 65 years of age, balanced for BMI (25.0-29.9, and 30.0-39.9), were enrolled in the study. Potential subjects reported to the study site, vital signs were measured and recorded. A ten to twelve-hour fasting blood sample was drawn for measurement.

Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) carries cholesterol in the blood and around the body, for use by cells. It is commonly referred to as "bad cholesterol" due to the link between high LDL levels and cardiovascular disease.

Excess Triglycerides is linked to the occurence of coronary artery disease in some people. Elevated triglycerides may be a consequence of other disease, such as untreated diabetes mellitus. Like cholesterol, increases in triglyceride levels can be detected by plasma measurement. These measurement is made after an overnight fast.

RESULT

Evidence of reduced LDL-Cholesterol Levels and Triglycerides. 45 years old female.
22 mg/dL reduction of LDL-Cholesterol Levels & 37 mg/dL reduction of Triglycerides.
47 years old male.
5 mg/dL reduction of LDL-Cholesterol Levels & 12 mg/dL reduction of Triglycerides.
49 years old male.
35 mg/dL reduction of LDL-Cholesterol Levels & 19 mg/dL reduction of Triglycerides.

Lifestyle & Blood Analysis
Test article: Kenrico Sap Sheet

Blood testing (CRP, TP, ALB, GOT, GPT, Serum gamma-GTP, TC, TG, HDL, UA, BUN, CRE, GLU) is important for the detection of new diseases and identification of changes in existing disease status. Recent clinical studies demonstrate that Kenrico Detox Pads can significantly increase our bodies equilibrium, and assist in the treatment of conditions such as diabetes, liver and heart disease.

CRP (C-Reactive Protein)
CRP is a naturally occurring substance in the body when inflammation and/or infection is present. A simple blood test can detect the levels of CRP in the blood, and depending on the result, it can suggest infections, bacterial and viral, and inflammation from autoimmune diseases. The normal level of CRP in the blood is around 10mg/L or less. In those people with an acute illness, it can be as high as 100mg/L.

TP (Total Protein)
Liver disorders can be detected by assessing the protein levels in the body. If the result is low it is characteristic of liver disease or kidney problems. These are disorders caused by the body's inability to efficiently digest protein. By testing the ratio of albumin to globulins the results can show a doctor the cause of the change in the body's protein levels. A result showing a low A/G result may suggest an autoimmune disease, or it could suggest cirrhosis of some sort. Whereas, a high ratio of A/G can suggest low immunoglobulin's which can be characteristic of leukaemia. At that point, more in depth tests would be carried out.

ALB (Albumin)
Low albumin levels are an indicator of liver disease. Further tests would then need to be carried out to show which type of disease is present in the liver. A result that shows a low level of albumin in the body can be indicative of kidney problems. At that point, a simple test would be carried out to detect the protein levels present in the urine. Low levels of protein can suggest inflammation, malnutrition or Chron's disease in the patient. Whereas high levels can suggest that the patient is seriously dehydrated.

GOT (AST)
If the level of AST reaches significant levels in the body then hepatitis is a possibility. If the hepatitis has reached acute status then the AST levels will remain high for up to several months after detection and up to six months in some cases. If the disease has reached chronic levels the AST level is lower than at other stages of the illness. To follow the pattern of the disease regular tests are necessary to track the progress of the infection.

GPT (ALT)
The ALT test is used to determine liver injuries. The results of the test (ALT) are normally compared with the results of other tests to show which type of damage or disease is present in the liver. If the result show abnormally high levels of ALT this can suggest the patient is suffering from hepatitis. Acute hepatitis patient's results will show that the ALT levels remain high for several months. ALT levels will vary dependant on the stage of the illness. Where the patient suffers from liver disease, the ALT levels may remain at normal levels.

Serum Gamma-GTP
People, who regularly fail to exercise, smoke excessively or who are seriously overweight, will present with oxidative stress. This induces plasma membrane-bound protein damage in hepatic cells and elevates the serum gamma-GTP levels.

TC (Total Cholesterol)
High levels of cholesterol can lead to life threatening diseases and hear t problems that can result in death. Doctors will often conduct regular blood tests to monitor the levels of cholesterol in the blood. This test is not carried out to diagnose illness, but to predict the possibility of the patient suffering from a serious illness in the future. Early detection is crucial to enable the patient to change lifestyle to reduce the levels present in the blood.

TG (Triglyceride)
A test carries out to predict the likelihood of a patient developing heart disease. TG is a blood test, part of a lipid profile, which is used to calculate risk. Diabetic patients are regularly monitored to ensure their levels remain constant ad a rise may indicate blood sugar problems. A normal level for fasting triglycerides is less than 150 mg/dL (1.70 mmol/L). Doctors will treat high LDL cholesterol differently than cholesterol that presents with high triglycerides. However, should only the triglycerides be high, it can be indicative of pancreatitis and a treatment regime will be prescribed immediately.

HDL
HDL is part of the cholesterol test and a high result is more desirable than a low one. Low HDL, less than 40 mg/dl, can be an indicator of an increased heart disease risk. A normal level, 60 mg/dl, is the preferred result and shows a significantly decreased risk of developing any heart diseases. When the test is carried out it is normally reported as a 'measured value' by the laboratory. The measured value ratio is obtained by dividing the total cholesterol by the HDL cholesterol. For example, if a person has total cholesterol of 200 mg/dL and an HDL cholesterol level of 50 mg/dL, the ratio would be stated as 4 (or 4:1). The optimum result of a cholesterol test would be that of 3.5 or lower.

UA (Uric Acid)
Uric acid can be used to show doctors if the body is breaking down waste products and dead cells efficiently. In some people, the body doesn't break down the cells and eliminate them quickly enough and eventually it can result in kidney stones forming. In diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis the uric acid crystals form on the joints causing severe pain. Also, following a course of chemotherapy, the levels of uric acid will be regularly monitored to see if the uric acid levels have been raised, suggesting problems processing the purines.

BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen)
High levels of BUN are indicative of kidney problems. This test is used to determine the kidney's ability to rid itself of urea, the waste proteins. In kidney failure the levels will be significantly elevated. Other conditions that reduce the flow of blood to the kidneys, such as a heart attack, burns or dehydration can also cause an elevated result. Gastrointestinal bleeding can also give a higher result due to the protein levels present in the blood. A low BUN result is normally nothing to worry about and is preferable to raised levels.

CRE (Creatinine)
Changes in CRE can indicate kidney problems. CRE is a protein in the blood that should remain at a constant level. If the CRE levels in the blood are higher than would normally be expected it may indicate the possibility of a kidney affecting illness.

GLU (Glucose)
A test used to determine diabetes. It is used to detect both hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia and helps doctors to diagnose diabetes and should ideally be carried out at least twice to give a broad picture of the blood levels. The test is normally carried out by pricking the finger and measuring the levels of glucose in the blood. The results will indicate whether medication and/or insulin need to be administered. Diabetics have to monitor their own blood many times per day to maintain their blood sugar levels. Again this is done by pricking the finger onto a special glucose strip. The strip is then inserted into a machine, called a glucose meter, to give the patient a digital readout of their levels. Depending on the result the patient will know how to administer their drugs.

Males and females, between 18 and 75 years of age, random BMI (20.0-39.9), were enrolled in the study. Potential subjects reported to the study site, vital signs were measured and recorded for a period of 6 months. A ten to twelve-hour fasting blood sample was drawn for measurement.
